Family of St. Henry soccer player Matt Mangine Jr. speak of immeasurable grief

UNION, Ky - At 16, Matt Mangine Jr. had the world in front of him. As an all-purpose standout player for the Kings Hammer soccer club, the soon-to-be junior was about to be heavily involved in the college recruiting process.

Then, at a training session Tuesday, June 16, at St. Henry District High School, he collapsed and never recovered.

Grandparents Bob and Marsha Mangine have had the unenviable task of comforting his parents, Matt and Kim, while also grieving the loss of a treasured grandson.

"He was a big-time level soccer player," Bob Mangine said. "He really had some skill.
