Eagles release former UC Bearcats star Connor Barwin

The Philadelphia Eagles released defensive end and former University of Cincinnati Bearcats standout Connor Barwin even after Barwin offered to take a pay cut, according to multiple reports.

The move saved the team $7.75 million in salary cap space.

Barwin has played eight NFL seasons - his last four for the Eagles after his first four with the Texans - since he was the 46th overall pick out of UC in the 2008 NFL Draft.

He recorded 14.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2014. Barwin started all 64 regular-season games during his time in Philly and is tied for 13th in Eagles history with 31.
