MEMPHIS – The second time around didn't work out for the University of Cincinnati football team either.
No. 16 Memphis defeated the No. 21 Bearcats 29-24 Saturday to win the American Athletic Conference Championship at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, eight days after the Tigers beat UC here in the regular-season finale.
The loss ends the Bearcats chance to play in The Cotton Bowl Classic, putting their postseason destination into a handful of potential different outcomes.
For a time, UC appeared poised to win its first AAC title.
