Former University of Cincinnati basketball standout Jacob Evans III officially became a Golden State Warrior on Monday.
The NBA champion Warriors announced via Twitter the signing of Evans, who was the team's first-round choice (No. 28 overall) in the 2018 NBA Draft on June 21. Contract terms were not disclosed.
Guard/forward Evans will participate with the Warriors in the NBA summer league, which was scheduled to begin Monday. Golden State has won the last two NBA championships and three of the last four.
Evans watched the draft at a restaurant in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
