Cincinnati Bearcats edged out for 1st place in AAC men's basketball Media Day poll

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team was picked second in the 12-team American Athletic Conference coaches preseason poll here Monday morning, at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott.

Central Florida was voted No. 1, led by guard B.J. Taylor and 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall. UCF edged UC 114-107 in poll points, with UCF drawing six first-place votes and UC three.

Next in line were Houston, Memphis, UConn, Temple, SMU, Wichita State, Tulsa, Tulane, ECU and USF.

Wilmington High School graduate Jarron Cumberland was named to the preseason first team All-AAC team. Cumberland, a junior shooting guard, is UC's top returning producer in several categories, including scoring (11.
