The newest member of the University of Cincinnati men's basketball 1,000-point club might also go down as the quietest. Certainly there is nobody nicer in the club, or almost anywhere else.
Senior forward Gary Clark scored his 1,000th point in the season opener last Friday, a 107-77 win over Savannah State. Entering Monday's game against Western Carolina (7 p.m. at Northern Kentucky University), Clark had 1,011 points to rank 50th on the UC list.
UC coach Mick Cronin has tried for four years to make the mild-mannered Clark more assertive/aggressive/demonstrative. Cronin has about thrown in the towel there, but he also would not trade Clark for anyone.
