WICHITA, Kansas – Cincinnati basketball's push to the top of the American Athletic Conference and status as NCAA Tournament worthy was nearly complete .

Or so it seemed. And then, after a blown lead late, Jarron Cumberland saved his best for last.

The Bearcats lost their eight-point lead late in the going Thursday at Wichita State, but Cumberland's driving layup and free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining pushed UC to an 80-79 victory.

The sold-out crowd of 10,506 fell silent in disbelief.

The Shockers pulled ahead 79-77 with a late flurry of 3-pointers.
