Despite a late rally, the Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team fell short in a comeback against Tulane, 61-59.
Playing down in New Orleans, Cincinnati (3-12, 2-9 AAC) fell behind early to a highly accomplished Tulane team (12-5, 8-4 AAC).
A 15-3 second quarter gave Tulane a 34-20 advantage at the half, which Cincinnati erased slowly but surely. Cincinnati even led briefly, taking a 57-55 lead with less than 4 minutes remaining. The efforts of senior forward IImar’i Thomas (25 points) and sophomore guard Caitlyn Wilson (6 three-pointers, 20 points) kept the Bearcats in this contest.
In the end, Tulane proved too much for Cincinnati as four Green Wavers ended up in double-figures.
