CORRYVILLE - On Ugly Sweater Day at Fifth Third Arena, the University of Cincinnati won an ugly game Saturday over South Carolina State 77-56.
The Bearcats went on a 17-0 run in the final 1:51 to make what became an uncomfortable affair more palatable.
Up as many as 23 points in the first half, the Bearcats allowed the Bulldogs to get within a dozen late in the second half.
Finally, with most of the starters back in, the Bearcats caught fire, particularly Jerron Cumberland who made a trio of three-point shots late and had a key steal in the final minutes.
