In the aftermath of a devastating apartment fire in mid-December that burned Terry Nelson’s family’s residence and left his mother, sister and niece seriously injured, a fan of the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team approached Nelson and said he wanted to help.
It was someone who 30 years ago, when Nelson played for the Bearcats, waited 30 minutes after a game to get Nelson’s autograph and appreciated that Nelson stuck around. It was someone who still listens to Nelson call UC basketball games on the radio.
Bit by bit and person by person, the Bearcats community has helped Nelson raise over $64,000 to help his family rebuild what they lost in December.
