Luke Fickell was about to deliver the most important lesson in recruiting.
During the summer of 2017, then-University of Cincinnati director of athletics Mike Bohn and Fickell returned to their car after meeting with potential baseball coaching hire Scott Googins.
Bohn felt confident Googins would accept the offer. "We're going to give him a day," he said. Fickell didn't like the waiting tactic.
"That’s not the way we go about our business," Fickell said later. "You feel like it’s going well, you’ve got to strike it and push to get it done. Don’t leave something to chance.
