Yolmer Sanchez’s ninth-inning walkoff single snaps six-game skid

After six-straight losses, things were going to need to get weird to bring the White Sox back to the win column, and Saturday night’s game was overkill as the Sox walked off the Padres 5-4.

The strangle finale was Tyler Saladino, whose ability to draw walks is still strangely newfound — his 12th o the year to lead off the ninth is one less than he had in all of 2016 — set up the once light-hitting Yolmer Sanchez to be the offensive hero. The second baseman said three sliders in a row was enough to get him ready, and he singled home the Opening Day second baseman, who slid around a close tag from Austin Hedges at the plate to end the six-game skid.
