Yermin Mercedes collects 3 more hits, but the Chicago White Sox bullpen falters late again in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels

The Sox entered the eighth with a 3-2 lead. Jared Walsh tied the game with an RBI triple off Evan Marshall. Justin Upton followed with a two-run home run.

The eighth inning also was costly for the Sox (1-2) in Thursday’s season opener. The Angels scored twice in the eighth in that game for a 4-3 victory.
