The White Sox acquired Basabe, along with third baseman Yoan Moncada and pitchers Michael Kopech and Victor Diaz, from the Boston Red Sox for Chris Sale in December of 2016.
Basabe spent 2017 at Class A Winston-Salem, but he was placed on the injured list with a sprained left knee on Aug. 14 and missed the rest of that season.
He played at Winston-Salem and Double A Birmingham in 2018, and batting a combined .258 with 21 doubles, eight triples, 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 119 games.
The 23-year-old made three trips to the the injury list in 2019.
