White Sox Take Theo Denlinger in the Seventh Round (215th overall)

After starting out the draft with infielders in rounds one and two, the White Sox have now selected five consecutive pitchers. Theo Denlinger, a six-foot-three, 240-pound right-handed relief pitcher, has been drafted by the White Sox.

Denlinger turned 25 on Saturday and is coming off an excellent stint with the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League. In 17 innings with Madison this summer, Denlinger had a 1.06 ERA while posting an outstanding K/9 rate of 13.2. Denlinger’s control was not an issue, either, as he walked only 2.1 per nine innings with Madison.
