SEATTLE — When is a win more than a win? When a 16-run demolition against an already extremely banged up Mariners pitching staff forces them to use their would-be Sunday starter as a mop-up man, and call up the walk-addled Chris Heston for his first start of the year.
Heston began his Sunday afternoon missing arm-side, and by the time he had begun to settle down at all, Melky Cabrera, Jose Abreu and Todd Frazier all had drawn walks. And after four-straight two out hits, including curious swinging bunt singles from Tim Anderson and Kevan Smith, all three and more had scored, as the White Sox (20-22) cruised to a 8-1 victory in Seattle.
