The White Sox lost another starter Sunday when Dylan Covey was placed on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
The Sox have already lost Carlos Rodon to Tommy John surgery and released Ervin Santana after a brief experiment in April.
Covey was 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA in nine games, including seven starts.
The Sox called up reliever Thyago Vieira from Triple-A Charlotte for Sunday’s game in Kansas City. Vierra has four saves and a 4.87 ERA in 17 outings at Charlotte, and has made three appearances with the Sox over three separate stints totaling 4 1/3 innings.
