White Sox pitching prospect Zack Burdi appears ahead of schedule after surgery

Downers Grove native Zack Burdi has shown remarkable progress making his way back from a torn ulnar collateral ligament that required Tommy John surgery last July.

In early January, the White Sox pitching prospect was throwing from 30 feet. On Monday, he struck out all three batters in an inning for the AZL White Sox, part of a combined no-hitter with Brayan Herrera and Mauricio Cabrera.

It was the fourth rookie-league appearance for the 23-year-old right-hander, who has allowed two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. Burdi was drafted 26th overall by the Sox out of Louisville in 2016.
