White Sox pitcher Manny Banuelos 'is continuing to improve' and might make his next start

The White Sox rotation hasn’t had a lot of stability.

Ervin Santana was designated for assignment after a short stint with the team. The Sox announced Monday that left-hander Carlos Rodon will have season-ending Tommy John elbow surgery. And left-hander Manny Banuelos left Tuesday’s game against the Indians in the fifth inning because of a strained shoulder.

Manager Rick Renteria gave an optimistic update on Banuelos before Thursday’s game against the Blue Jays.

“Manny is continuing to improve,” Renteria said. “Right now he’s day to day. We’ll see how he feels (Friday) and we’ll continue to move forward until we know otherwise.
