To nobody's surprise, White Sox left-hander Chris Sale added another accomplishment to his resume Tuesday evening when he was named one of 14 pitchers on the American League All-Star team.
Sale joins left-hander Billy Pierce as the only Sox pitchers to make five straight All-Star teams. Pierce was an All-Star from 1955 to 1959, while Sale has been named to the team every year since he became a starter in 2012.
"That's extremely hard," manager Robin Ventura said of making the team five years in a row. "Everybody seems to have the one year off, where you're not quite as sharp or you're not as good.
