Rick Renteria’s coaching staff took shape on Friday with Joe McEwing moving from third base coach to bench coach and a pair of long-time player development staffers earning spots in the major leagues.
McEwing will replace Renteria as the club's bench coach, while Nick Capra was named third base coach and Curt Hasler bullpen coach. Hitting coach Todd Steverson, assistant hitting coach Greg Sparks, pitching coach Don Cooper, first base coach Daryl Boston and bullpen catcher Mark Salas will return for the 2017 season.
McEwing spent the last five seasons as the White Sox third base coach and had his name pop up in a handful of managerial searches.
