The Mets took a 1-0 lead against the White Sox early Wednesday in the series finale at Citi Field.
James Loney walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Rene Rivera’s RBI single up the middle for the lead against Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez.
The Sox had one hit against Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom in the first two innings.
After snapping a seven-game losing streak Tuesday night, the Sox were trying to win back-to-back games for the first time since May 22-23. They came back from a 4-0 deficit Tuesday to win 6-4.
“Those are some pretty good arms, and to be able to fight back and get the lead and nail it down (is big),” Sox manager Robin Ventura said.
