White Sox: Jeff Samardzija earns first victory since May 22

MINNEAPOLIS -- Compared to last season, Jeff Samardzija’s current win drought was nothing.

Samardzija won for the first time since May 22 on Tuesday night, snapping a five-start stretch in which he hadn’t been victorious. But that’s a mere pittance compared with the 10-start stretch Samardzija had to endure last season with the Cubs even though he had a 1.46 ERA. Samardzija, who allowed two earned runs and eight hits in seven innings as the White Sox topped the Minnesota Twins 6-2 at Target Field, joked that he hasn’t worried about anything but team victories since his May 5 start.
