White Sox: James Shields Set to Start Home Opener Against Detroit

After a 3-2 five game road trip to begin the season, the Chicago White Sox will begin a six game homestand on Thursday. The Sox will play their home opener at Guaranteed Rate Field against the Detroit Tigers.

James Shields, who started on Opening Day on Mar. 29, will start in the Sox home opener on Thursday afternoon. Shields had a solid outing in his first start of the season as he pitched five scoreless innings against the Kansas City Royals after giving up four runs in the first inning. The veteran right-hander will be looking for his second win of this season.
