White Sox hope Brett Lawrie can channel energy into big 2016

GLENDALE, Ariz. — White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson has spent the early part of spring training watching new second baseman Brett Lawrie chat up "anybody who will listen" during batting practices and games.

The Sox knew they received a high-energy player in their trade with the Athletics this offseason even before Lawrie called his personality "Canadian fire" on his first day at Camelback Ranch, but they have gotten a better feel for how that intensity fits into their revamped clubhouse in the weeks since.

"Whatever food he's eating, however he makes it up every morning, I don't think I've seen him below 8 yet on a scale of 10," Steverson said.
