Trying to salvage a split in the four-game series against the first-place Royals, the left-handed All-Star (8-4, 2.72) takes the mound Sunday to face Danny Duffy (3-4, 4.65).
“You know he’s one of the best pitchers in the game. For him, he knows what he means to the guys inside the clubhouse, this organization,” Sox manager Robin Ventura said of the overall impact of having Sale on the mound.
“And when he goes out and pitches, I think you can see in the first few pitches really what he has and he’s capable of dominating a game.
