White Sox Collaborate with Local Artist Edo to Help Commemorate Juneteenth

Today, June 19, marks the annual Juneteenth holiday, and the White Sox have collaborated with Chicago-based artist Edo (@legomyedo) to design a custom uniform patch for players in the organization’s Amateur City Elite (ACE) program. In celebration and commemoration of Juneteenth, players are sporting the patches during travel baseball tournaments across Aurora, Mokena and Hammond this weekend.

Juneteenth is a celebration of the day slavery officially ended in the United States in 1865 when Union troops delivered word to Galveston, Texas, that the Civil War had ended.

As part of his creative process, Edo visited with the ACE 13U and 14U teams for input on the design and a conversation surrounding the history and meaning of Juneteenth.
