When White Sox player-development head Chris Getz said that Nick Madrigal was “pretty close” to being ready for the major leagues, he wasn’t kidding.
The White Sox announced Friday afternoon that they are bringing the No. 39 prospect in baseball up from the team’s alternate training site in Schaumburg for their series against the Kansas City Royals, which begins Friday night in Missouri.
Madrigal was not included on the team’s Opening Day roster, with general manager Rick Hahn saying that the team was better offensively with Leury Garcia manning second base and waiting until Madrigal could thrive on an everyday basis at the big league level.
