Veteran Leger Douzable brings angry effectiveness to the 49ers' defensive line

Leger Douzable, with his scraggly beard and warm smile — there's a slight gap in between his two middle top teeth, a la Michael Strahan's — is one easily-approachable 6-foot-4, 284-pounder.

Ask the veteran defensive lineman about his recent success — the journeyman led the 49ers with two sacks and five tackles last Sunday after notching only 6.5 sacks through his first eight years in the NFL — and Douzable beams in response.

Leger (pronounced lee-ZHAY') then launches into a discussion of football strategy, crediting teammates for shifting correctly and beating blocks to make his job easier, before being interrupted by his neighbor at the locker next door.
