DETROIT — Tim Anderson stood near the on-deck circle, swinging and stretching, before the Detroit Tigers even took the field Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Anderson fouled off six consecutive pitches. On the 10th pitch of the at-bat, Anderson connected on a slider for a long home run to left for the sixth leadoff homer in his career.
Anderson knew he got it when he hit the ball, taking a brief second to admire the hit before rounding the bases.
“I definitely wanted to start the party,” Anderson said after the game. “I saw everything he has so that gave the opportunity for every guy behind me to see every pitch.
