The White Sox really, really wanted Will Robertson

News broke late Wednesday, confirmed by the White Sox on Thursday, of the acquisition of outfielder Will Robertson from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.

The fact that a trade was worked out indicates the White Sox felt Colorado — the only team with waiver priority ahead of the White Sox — might make a claim. Jerry Reinsdorf getting a little loose with the cash!

Robertson reports to Triple-A Charlotte, but presumably will be on the short list to call up at next need.

The 27-year-old lefthander was designated for assignment by Toronto on July 6.
