Lucas Giolito and Dylan Cease were among the pitchers throwing in the bullpen Friday during the first summer camp workout for the Chicago White Sox.
Right-hander Michael Kopech has been excused from the team so he can attend to a personal matter, general manager Rick Hahn said. There’s no timetable for Kopech’s return, but Hahn did say Kopech is healthy.
“It’s obviously never ideal when any individual is dealing with off-field matters,” Hahn said. “It’s easy, I suppose, at times to lose sight of the fact that you’re dealing with human beings here. People have lives, people have families, people have all the same assortment of items to attend to that every other individual has.
