1. Nerd alert: Just when you thought it was safe to spend a summer night without analytics, Monday’s Home Run Derby also will be televised on ESPN2 in what the network calls a “Statcast-driven alternate viewing experience for the Derby.”

For analytically challenged Boomers, that means “unique graphics showing real-time data such as exit velocity, launch angle and distance on every batted ball.
