Thursday night saw one of the great spectacles in all of sport: a position player pitching. In fact, if truth must be told, the possibility of a position player pitching was the sole reason I stuck around until the finish.
It also begs the question: who else has done this for the Sox? As it turns out, there have been 21 instances throughout White Sox history where a position player has pitched in a game (Baseball Reference says 23, but two of those players were pitchers for the Sox, albeit for one game only.
