Sox Watch: Five Cheers for the Rebuild

There were at least five textbook examples last night of how various pieces of the White Sox rebuild are coming together in an exciting way. Here they are:

1. Lucas Giolito

(Acquired from the Nationals with pitchers Reynaldo López and Dane Dunning for outfielder Adam Eaton)

Giolito was masterful as he mowed down the powerful Astro offense for his first career shutout and first “real” complete game in the White Sox’ 4–0 triumph. Giolito was given credit for a CG in his last outing, but it was a rain-shortened five-inning contest.

Giolito (6–1) went the distance via 107 pitches, allowing just four hits and a lone walk while striking out nine Houston batters.
