The White Sox rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the score at 5–5, forged ahead via Tim Anderson’s solo homer in the 11th, but ultimately lost a 7–6 heartbreaker as the Angels plated two runs in the bottom half of the inning. It gave LA the extra-inning victory in the middle game of the three-game set at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
