Royals 1, White Sox 0 after three innings
The Royals took a 1-0 lead on Eric Hosmer's sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Jose Abreu is back in the No. 2 spot in the White Sox lineup for the second day in a row, but he won’t be playing first base. That will be manned by Jerry Sands, who will bat fourth against the Royals in the second of a three-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.
Sox manager Robin Ventura also elected to rest regular DH Avisail Garcia.
