Reynaldo Lopez shares his journey from the Dominican Republic to the major leagues

Every major leaguer comes from somewhere. White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez comes from the village of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic.

In a collaborative effort, NBC Sports Chicago and the White Sox take you back to where it all began in a memorable journey to the young pitcher’s roots.

Lopez shows off the house he grew up in, the fields he played in and the community that turned him from a small kid who loved plantains to one of the most promising pitchers in the White Sox organization.

Watch the video above to meet Lopez's grandparents, hear the story of how his grandfather sold one of the family's cows to buy Lopez his first baseball equipment and experience, with Lopez, the place where he learned the game.
