Q&A with White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson on hitting

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- There is a saying around the White Sox pressbox: "Trick will fix him."

Originally a first round draft pick by the Blue Jays in 1992, Todd “Trick” Steverson jumped immediately into minor league coaching when his playing career ended after 1998.

He’s in his fourth year serving as White Sox hitting coach after being hired away from the Oakland Athletics organization, and we talked a bit about his job. His answers are edited for length.

The Athletic: What’s the biggest thing people get wrong about hitting coaches?

Steverson: That you can fix.
