Pat Fitzgerald Brings his South Side Swag to Northwestern Football

By Matt Igleski

On May 16, Northwestern Football Coach and South Side native Pat Fitzgerald threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Northwestern Night at Guaranteed Rate Field. Fitzgerald grew up in Orland Park, a south suburb of Chicago. As a big Sox fan, he idolized Carlton Fisk as a little league baseball player and always wore number 72. For Fitzgerald, the White Sox symbolize his youth and what being a south-sider is all about.

“There is no doubt in my mind that there’s no better colors than silver and black for the game of baseball,” Fitzgerald said.
