Moncada Homers in Third Straight Games in Win Over Detroit

It was a pitcher’s duel from the first pitch of the game. Mike Clevinger tossed 7.0 innings giving up only three hits and fanning seven. The Tigers starting pitcher Reese Olson took a no-hitter into the seventh inning then allowed two hits, which is all the Sox needed to get going.

Luis Robert Jr. knocked the first hit of the night for the Sox with his 35th double of the season on a sharp line drive to left field. Yoán Moncada then launched a 2-run homer for the lead!

In the top of the eighth, Yasmani Grandal got the offense going with a single to center field and Oscar Colás followed suit with a double to right field.
