Answering a question that verged well into the hypothetical realm, Chicago's mayor doesn't see the White Sox or Cubs fleeing the city to resume their seasons — and play their home games in front of fans — elsewhere.
At a Friday press conference, Mayor Lori Lightfoot was asked about the potential of pro teams playing in neighboring cities or states with less cautious reopening measures than Chicago or Illinois.
"They're not going to do anything that puts their athletes in harm's way," the mayor said. "And they're not going to do anything that puts the various businesses and employees that depend upon those teams and the leagues at risk.
