In more ways than one, Mat Latos' 109th and final pitch Sunday was about saving face.
The White Sox right-hander was "running on fumes," Rangers taunting him on first and third with one out in the sixth, when he calmly snagged a screamer headed straight for his head and fired to Brett Lawrie at second for the first out of an inning-ending double play.
"I'm just glad it didn't take my face off," Latos said after his team's 4-1 victory against the Rangers that put a bow on his team's 5-2 homestand.
