Veteran right-hander James Shields will return to the White Sox rotation Sunday in Toronto after two months recovering from a strained right lat.
Shields was back at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday after completing his third rehab start Tuesday night with Triple-A Charlotte, where he posted a 3.21 ERA over 14 innings. It was his first time pitching in the minors since the Rays called him up for his major-league debut in 2006.
“I was a road warrior for the Charlotte Knights there for a little bit,” Shields said.
