Jack Morris, Alan Trammell voted into Hall of Fame by Modern Era Committee

Jack Morris and Alan Trammell were recognized for more than their efforts in leading the Tigers to the 1984 World Series championship Sunday when they were elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Morris and Trammell were elected by the Modern Era Committee, which considered 10 people whose contributions to the game were most significant from 1970-87 and were not voted to the Hall in their time on the BBWAA ballot.

To achieve enshrinement, candidates needed to receive 12 of 16 votes (75 percent) from the committee of former players, executives and writers.
