Heading to the White Sox home opener Thursday? Pack a small umbrella or rain poncho. Here’s how the Cubs and White Sox have fared in their first home games of the season in cold, warm weather

A low pressure system is working its way from central Kansas into northeastern Illinois and brings with it a strong chance of precipitation — 70 percent — Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Winds out of the south and southeast could gust up to 30 mph.

“Showers will move through the area in the morning and there could be a lull in the rain around first pitch,” said Ricky Castro, meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Chicago office. “But there could be scattered or isolated showers popping up during the game.”

Small umbrellas and rain ponchos will be allowed inside Guaranteed Rate Field, but bags are not — with the exception of diaper bags, medical bags and small clutch purses, according the White Sox.
