Garrett Crochet, the Chicago White Sox’s first-round pick in the 2020 draft, is among the 16 players heading to Schaumburg for the taxi squad, the team announced Tuesday.
The Sox selected Crochet, a left-handed pitcher from Tennessee, with the No. 11 pick in last month’s amateur draft.
He entered the draft as the No. 3 ranked left-handed pitching prospect, according to MLB.com. Baseball America rated his fastball as the best among college pitchers in the draft.
Crochet, 20, will be one of five left-handed pitchers in Schaumburg. The list also includes Bernardo Flores Jr.
