Figuring out the White Sox catching playing time split had been a bit of a challenge over the first two weeks, but this is not a good way for them to find clarity.
The White Sox announced Thursday morning that Geovany Soto will be placed on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation, after he was a late scratch from the lineup Wednesday night. After Wednesday’s 2-1 victory in Cleveland, White Sox manager Rick Renteria said Soto woke up that morning feeling soreness.
In comes 28-year-old Kevan Smith, a right-handed hitter who has fared better against southpaws in the minors the last few years.
