CLEVELAND — Chicago White Sox starter Dylan Cease exited Friday’s game against Cleveland Indians in the sixth inning with a bruised right triceps after being hit by Bradley Zimmer’s hard grounder back to the mound.
X-rays were negative, and Cease’s status is day to day, the Sox said. He allowed three hits and struck out nine in 5u2153 scoreless innings at Progressive Field.
With the Sox leading 1-0 in the sixth on a Luis Robert home run, Cease retired the first batter before Zimmer hit the comebacker. The momentum of Cease’s follow-through caused his back to be toward home plate, and the grounder hit him.
