Two important members of the Chicago White Sox’s future squared off during Monday’s morning workout. At one point, Robert hit a long fly to center field. Later, Cease got the rookie center fielder to swing and miss.
“That’s what happens when you get some pretty good talent,” Sox manager Rick Renteria said. “You can have both sides happen to have a positive outcome. It was cool watching these guys continue to work.”
Cease, who made his major-league debut last July, enjoyed the test of facing Robert and other teammates in what amounted to a three-inning session.
“It was good to be back on the mound,” Cease said.
